PATCHES: A NEW MUSICAL

Patches is a 75-minute kids musical about scouting commissioned and premiered by Piknik Theatre in July 2023 in Steamboat Springs, CO. Patches is still in development, but materials are available for perusal upon request (email ryandavidjacobs@gmail.com).

Synopsis:

At a weekend campout set in the fictional town of Rowboat Rapids, Colorado, three twelve-year-old “Buddy Scouts” (Will, Ethan, and Ozzy) are thrown for a loop when Julia, a girl who has just moved to town from San Francisco, joins their troop and is better than them at seemingly everything. Julia ends up helping the boys (plus one particularly mouthy therapy sock puppet) in overcoming their fears, getting the four patches they need to graduate into full-fledged bear scouts, and evading a literal bear. The boys help Julia move forward from the grief of her mother's recent passing in return.
